Today an early rise is recommended as you drive approximately 12 km out of Paro to Taksang, better known as Tiger’s Nest Monastery. The highlight of most journeys to Bhutan, the monastery is perched on a high rocky ledge 900 meters above the valley floor offering incredible views. The hike from the car park takes approximately two to three hours depending on your fitness. There is small cafe to stop off for tea or coffee along the way. Once you have reached the Monastery itself, you then hike down to the car park. If you feel you might not make it to the Monastery itself, we would still suggest a visit, hiking part of the way up to view the monastery from a viewpoint with a stunning panorama of the cliff face.
